Hi guys it has been a while but I just have to share with you something my husband and I have taken to doing lately.
We have started listening to TED and TEDx talks and they have been really good. It has been a great way to spend time we would otherwise have spent watching normal TV.
I have known for years that they are a wonderful source of motivation and inspiration but have not really sat down and watched them before. We are doing this instead of watching TV and it is so much more powerful.
Recently we have decided it is time to get rid of our satellite TV service and have starting using Chromecast to watch other stuff and this has opened up a whole other side to watching. I am constantly amazed at the things my husband finds for our viewing pleasure
In the last week we have seen talks from an Australian that s an absolute master at beatboxing and looping. What he does with his voice forever amazes me.
Then we have watched one by Tim Urban on Procrastination. That was so good. Tim talks about the what the procrastinators mind looks like compared to the non-procrastinator. He talks about the rational thinker part of the brain versus the have fun monkey and then also the Panic monster. I could so relate to this. I am a procrastinator from way back and it even though I overcome it most of the time there are still times when I would rather do everything except what I am supposed to be doing at the time.
An example of that is, I am trying to get my tax organised at the moment. Do you think I can sit down for more than 10 minutes before something else has caught my attention? It might be putting our gas Barbeque together, or getting on and doing some badly needed de-cluttering, or deciding that tonight I am going to cook a stew so then spending the next half hour or so going through recipe books. I know I will achieve it, but as Tim says it is usually only when the panic monster really kicks in.
Do you have this kind of problem too?
Here it is for your enjoyment.
Another one we have watched this week was ” do you think you can draw?” This was amazing letting you learn that anyone no matter how bad you think you are can draw. This was eye-opening and very enlightening. How many of you once you reach adulthood really feel you can not draw anymore? Drawing is not a creative channel you can use?
Watch this talk by Graham Shaw and you will realise that everyone can draw. Even if it just to make a power point presentation just a bit more interesting.
This third talk was the first one I saw and I immediately started taking notes. This about Drawing your future. This is something I am learning at the moment through the teachings of William Wood in the Next Level Mastermind training I am doing. It is a simple way to do goal setting and the three steps required to achieve your goals.
ACT on it.
I hope you have enjoyed these talks today. I sure did and If you did please let me know. If you want access to more inspiration and teaching ask me about Project Titan and the Empower Network.
I have learned so much from both product ranges.
Have a great day
